SMEG AND DOLCE & GABBANA
IMAGINE WALKING INTO A KITCHEN, YOUR GAZE DRIFTING FROM ONE CORNER TO ANOTHER, UNTIL IT IS SUDDENLY CAPTURED BY A STRIKINGLY ELEGANT PIECE OF KITCHENWARE.
TRANSCENDING THE ORDINARY
Born from the heart of northern Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, SMEG effortlessly pioneers design and innovation in the household appliance industry. Since its establishment in 1948 in Guastalla, near Reggio Emilia, the brand has been known for its impeccable style, timeless aesthetic and quality manufacturing. Globally appreciated for its iconic retro appliances, SMEG epitomizes the pioneering spirit of 'Made in Italy' excellence, uniting advanced technology with unique designs to enhance modern living.
SMEG's philosophy not only manages to meet the functional demands of contemporary kitchens, but also enhances them with unparalleled, simplistic design. Each product is proof of the company’s commitment to durability and quality, ensuring functionality and a broad array of uses, all while presenting an incomparable aesthetic appeal.
Bridging an ethos of aesthetics and utility, the partnership between SMEG and the iconic fashion house Dolce & Gabbana exemplifies a perfect melding of two design philosophies. Having previously joined forces, these two iconic brands united their artistic souls once more in the "Blu Mediterraneo" collaboration. This new line of small appliances is a vibrant celebration of Italian heritage, designed by SMEG with the creative expertise of Matteo Bazzicalupo, Raffaella Mangiarotti, and Dolce & Gabbana’s unmistakable creative touch.

"Blu Mediterraneo" brings the colors of the Mediterranean into the kitchen. Toasters, citrus juicers, and kettles are carefully adorned with vibrant blue and white decorations that echo the dynamic hues of the sea and sky. Each design piece is a love letter to the Mediterranean landscape, crafted on an industrial scale, yet retaining an original charm through a decoration process based on a hand-painted prototype. Building on a rich history of unique partnerships, SMEG and Dolce & Gabbana first captivated the design world in 2016 with a special edition of 100 hand-painted FAB28 refrigerators. The initial collaboration laid the groundwork for a series of creative projects that combine high fashion with appliance innovation. In 2018, SMEG and Dolce & Gabbana united under the "Divina Cucina" collection, presenting larger kitchen appliances adorned with designs inspired by Sicilian carts and the intricate patterns of Mediterranean majolica mosaics. This collection not only reinforced the bond between SMEG and Dolce & Gabbana but also highlighted their commitment to impeccable design that transcends traditional appliance aesthetics.
Collaborations are a hallmark of SMEG's philosophy and present a way for the brand to breathe new life into the realm of design for household appliances. A passion, vividly illustrated in SMEG's history of collaborative partnerships, each blending SMEG's signature style with unexpected elements from the world of fashion to automotive design. By creatively engaging with other brands, SMEG sets itself apart from its competition, continually raising the bar in appliance design.
In a world where design and function intertwine seamlessly, SMEG stands out as a visionary brand, continuously pushing the boundaries of what is possible in home appliance design. Whether it is through enhancing the aesthetic appeal of household appliances or pioneering collaborations that redefine industry standards, SMEG remains at the forefront of innovation, ensuring that its products are indispensable not only for their functionality but as integral elements of home décor.
